Biography

Laura heads up the Maritime Climate Change and Environment Team in the UK Department for Transport, with responsibilities including the development and negotiation of environmental policy relating to shipping and ports in both the European Union and International Maritime Organization. Laura is leading UK Government input to negotiations in the IMO on how the international shipping sector plays its part in global efforts to reduce emissions in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. Her wider remit includes marine planning, shipping in the polar regions, ship recycling and pollutant emissions. She has previously worked on deregulation and aviation policy in the Department for Transport, as well as emissions trading and housing policy in other Government departments. Laura holds an MSc in Economics and a BA(Hons) in Economics, French and Spanish from The University of Strathclyde.
