Philip is a Visiting Professor and part-time Professorial Research Associate in the UCL Energy Institute, focusing on the use of energy simulation in non-domestic stock modelling. He is also a Staff Scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California, working on the empirical validation of energy simulation programs, the development of low energy cooling systems for buildings and the develop of a control system design tool for buildings. He is a Fellow of ASHRAE and of the International Building Performance Simulation Association. He has chaired the ASHRAE Technical Committees on Energy Calculations and on Building Operation Dynamics and has served on the ASHRAE Research Administration Committee. He has a BA in Physics from Oxford University and a PhD in Radio Astronomy from Manchester University.
