Dejan is a building scientist with a background in heating, ventilation and air conditioning engineering and the extensive experience of monitoring and modelling work in the field of the built environment. In the last 15 years Dejan has led, co-led or  significantly contributed to 40 projects, 8 of them undertaken for the  DCLG Building Regulations Division (under the Buildings Operational  Performance Framework). He has published over 120 peer reviewed publications including two publications focusing on complex built environments: CIBSE TM57: 2015 Integrated School Design and A Handbook of Sustainable Building Design and Engineering – An Integrated Approach to Energy, Health and Operational Performance (first edition: Earthscan, 2009; second edition: Taylor Francis, 2015).

Dejan is a cofounder and long standing board member of two specialist groups: IBPSA-England (an affiliate of the International Building Performance Simulation Association) and CIBSE School Design Group. Dejan also sits on the editorial advisory boards of the Taylor & Francis’ Intelligent Buildings International, Elsevier’s International Journal of Sustainable Built Environments and Bentham’s open access Construction and Building Technology Journal. He has edited a Special Issue of Taylor & Francis’ Intelligent Buildings International: Designing Intelligent School Buildings: What do we know? (2015)

He is an Honorary Professor at Roma Tre University, a PhD examiner for Glasgow Caledonian University, Newcastle University, Kings College London, University of Sheffield and Loughborough University, and was a member of an External Programme Review Panel at Greenwich and Ulster University. Dejan is a reviewer for 17 scientific journals and funding bodies in the UK, Belgium, Ireland,Netherlands and Serbia. He was a member of the Construction and Engineering Jury for Solar Decathlon Europe 2010: Towards Energy Efficient Buildings.
