Overview

Previous empirically constructed heat pump load profiles have only been informed by a handful of heat pump installations; here, the RHPP dataset has led to the inclusion of around 600 sites. This allows the characteristics of aggregated electricity consumption to be observed, diversity to be quantified, and the extra requirements of the electricity grid to be estimated. It also allows for an interesting comparison between the way boilers are used and heat pumps are used in real settings, involving timing of peaks and extent of night time operation.
